How am I going to help others if I can’t even help myself?

That was the first thought I had after watching a YouTube video on how to start a blog in 2021.

Apparently, to succeed in the online world you need to help people, whatever that means. And there was I, sitting down empty and talentless, with nothing worth sharing.

For a second I felt like a Kardashian-Jenner, but they are on top of the world -and their marketing skills (or team)- deserve a standing ovation.

I watched said video two or three weeks ago before writing this article. Truth be told, the word talentless still hunts me.

To give you a little perspective, let’s break it down:

1. I am not a passion-driven person, so I didn’t dedicate countless hours to mastering a craft, hobby, instrument, or any activity really.

2. My work experience is limited, but my insecurities about it are the size of a mammoth.

3. I don’t sing, dance, produce music, develop apps, or have a TikTok friendly character.

4. Avid avoider here๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ. I go to extreme lengths to put off things I need to do. I bought the domain of my blog in April 2021. It only took me 26 hours until I managed to write something.

If doing nothing were a profitable talent, you’d see my face on the cover of Forbes EVERY. DAMN. YEAR.

I’m not proud of it, rather ashamed. Avoiding things takes a huge toll on your back, your neck. You can hear the crunchiest bone cracking when you avoid something.

Not to mention the suspension state you enter when you constantly postpone things. There is no up or down, just a void space for you to float around.

Most days I sleep, eat, play on my phone, poo, sleep. Rinse and repeat.

Today, nonetheless, something changed. I slept, ate, played on my phone, pooped, and wrote whatever this is. Now I’ll go to sleep, a bit lighter, I hope.

I don’t know if somehow this helped you, that is for you to decide. Just know this: if I could force myself to grab a notebook and a pen to organize my thoughts, you can, too.

Whatever it is. Whatever it takes.
